EMPLOYER NOMINATED MIGRATION

Employer nominated migration is designed to respond to the needs of Australian employers. Employers can recruit and nominate skilled people to fill positions that cannot be filled from the Australian labour market or through their own staff training.

These visas can be applied for either on-shore or off-shore. If applying onshore however you must hold a qualifying visa before applying.

The skill select program is also available for eligible applicants who have been unable to connect with a prospective employer.

The main visas in this category are:

Employer Nominated Scheme (ENS)
Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS)

The criteria for the above visas vary however all applicants must meet the age, English and skills requirements unless exemptions apply

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187)

Features

This visa is for skilled workers from outside Australia or skilled temporary residents who live and work in regional Australia. It has three streams.

  • The Temporary Residence Transition stream is for subclass 457 visa holders who have worked for two years and their employer wants to offer them a permanent position.
  • The Direct Entry stream is for people who have never, or only briefly, worked in the Australian labour market.
  • The Agreements stream is for people sponsored by an employer through a labour or regional migration agreement.

Requirements

People can apply for this visa if they:

  • want to live and work in regional Australia, meaning not in the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong and Melbourne
  • have been nominated by an approved Australian employer located in regional Australia
  • are younger than 50 years of age
  • meet the skills, qualifications and English language requirements.

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)

Features

This visa is for skilled workers from outside Australia or skilled temporary residents who live and work in Australia. It has three streams.
